Baltic Ceramics Art Collection

Featuring work by artists from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in the 1990s, Baltic Ceramics: 1996, was gifted to ECU following the exhibition at the Wellington B. Gray Gallery. Their work, made in the most challenging circumstances, where control took away the very best and where fear was the base denominator, gives us an invaluable opportunity to view art born from the spirit that survived suppression and bonded beyond the boundaries of language and geography.

Artists include Inglrd Allik, Mai Jármut, Karin Kalman-Erm, Ülle Ratasalu, Leo Rohlin, Annika Teder, and Viive Väljaots of Estonia; Skaidrite Cihovska, Violeta Játniece, Péteris Martinsons, Arnis Pelšs, Dainis Pundurs, Ilona Romule, Juta Ryndina of Latvia; Jonas Arčikauskas, Eugenijus Čibinskas, Neruté Čiukšiené, Tomas Juirgis Daunora, Ona Grigaité, Jolanta Kvašyté, and Aldona Jonuskaite-Šalteniené of Lithuania.
