James R. Henderson Collection

The Henderson collection highlights the work of Philmore Graves, whose pottery has been under-appreciated and is often misidentified as the work of others. Phil Graves was a highly skilled turner, and his pottery is on a par with A. R. Cole, Nell Graves, and Waymon Cole. This collection was generously donated to ECU by Meredith Henderson Heywood of the Whynot Pottery in Seagrove, NC.
