The painting, Adrift, is the culmination of a group of paintings completed between 2012 to 2018. These paintings took as their subjects abandoned factories, plants, and industrial buildings. Often times in these works I would appropriate titles and compositions found in works from art history. It is my aim to create a space where forms project and recede from the picture plane giving the subjects a sense of life and presence, and to draw associations between art history, experience, personal feelings and the social, political and economic issues that reflect the times in which I live.

During my time at ECU I had the pleasure to study painting with two wonderful and inspiring Professors, Paul Hartly and Clarence Morgan.
