BFA ’20 Art Education

Originally from Wilmington NC, Matthew has finished his last year here at East Carolina University and will be graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in art education! He transferred to East Carolina two years ago from Raleigh, having previously worked at Jerrys Artarama for six years. Working at Jerry’s was one of the most interesting and rewarding experience in Matthew’s life, as he met thousands of artists and practiced different mediums that he had learned about at the store. His interest and passion for facilitating creativity has driven his success at ECU. Matthew has already accepted a teaching position at an elementary school in Vance County, close to the community he surrounded himself in Raleigh.

During his two years at East Carolina University, Matthew explored many different mediums – his favorite being painting and drawing. He plans on employing similar methods and techniques in his teaching with his future students and believes they will enjoy it as much as he did.
