Fae, Flora, and Fear
Fiction has been around for ages to provide comfort, entertainment, and explanation. Before we had access to modern technology and education, people relied on their imagination to explain what they did not understand and bring them a semblance of reasoning in a confusing world. In my case, anxiety makes it exceptionally difficult for me to trust others, form relationships, take necessary steps forward, and live a normal life in general. However, so many characters from fiction and mythology have gone through a lot of the same fears as me and have overcome, moved past, and even just peacefully lived with them. These stories have inspired me to create a body of work utilizing the imagery and symbolism from those stories to convey different fears that I experience.
