Brooke Bramante

BFA ’20 Animation and Interactive Design

I love video games. I wonder at their ability to bring fiction to life and the immersive experience that they allow. Being able to create worlds for people where they can explore and feel free to be themselves in a way that might not be physically or emotionally possible in the world we live in is a beautiful thing. But animation can be useful in other ways than gameplay and movies. Another important aspect of animation is its ability to allow for scientific applications and uses.

As someone who has always been very drawn to the sciences, using animation as an informative and instructive way of both learning and performing scientific applications is something that I look forward to further exploring. I’m interested in a possible future career with the sciences, utilizing animation as a way to, for example, teach a specific scientific procedure, or even a simulation created for someone to practice the procedure before performing it in real life is extremely beneficial in furthering and perfecting techniques. I aim to move forward with animation paired with scientific applications, creating works that could be instructive in procedural processes. I am hoping to bridge the gap between science and animated arts and intertwine the two to become one.

Animal Heist
2019

An animated short created in Maya about two thieves who are attempting to rob a jewelry store. A collaboration with Dylan Minyard, Lindsay Lawton, and John Mompoint and myself. I contributed the animated scenes where the Monkey and Fox are stealing the giant Jewel and sneaking out. Also, I modeled the Monkey’s body, created store assets, and skin weighted the security guard’s body.
