Beth Blake earned her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1984 and her MFA from Ohio University in 1992. She has taught at East Carolina University since 1999.

Trained as a painter, Blake has exhibited her work throughout the United States. She has had solo exhibitions at Lancaster Museum of Art, Lancaster, Pa; Villa Julie College, Stevenson, MD; Morehead State University in Morehead, KY; and Emerge Gallery in Greenville NC.  Her work has been included in group exhibitions at Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen, MI; Cleveland State University, Cleveland OH; Duke University School of Law, Durham, NC; Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY; and Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Winston Salem NC.

Her paintings are narrative reflections of her daily activities influenced by her environment and societal exposure.
