My artwork has been given new life thanks to the birth of my son, depicted in “Bandit.” His level of creativity far exceeds my own and he has provided opportunities for me to broaden what I do as a painter, something I am forever grateful for. This particular work is inspired by a round of dress up between cousins as well as Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian.” This image at once makes reference to a child’s sense of wonder and imagination while at the same time focusing on man’s fascination with and reliance on violence.
